About Kari

Kari Douma, professional photographer.

This blog was started for a 365 project in 2010 by Kari Douma, from Kari Douma Photography. Jayne Wirebaugh (studio manager for Kari Douma Photography worked on a 365 project in 2011, and now Kari is working on a project 52 in 2011. Here is a note from Kari....

Welcome to my Project 52... After completing a 365 project in 2010, I took a year off to relax and recuperate while my studio manager Jayne took over the project! After taking that year off, I realized that I missed a project, something to make me get out and challenge myself. I wasn't quite ready to commit to a 365 project again, but I wanted something that would challenge me artistically and photographically. So I decided on a project 52. One theme a week, and no minimum or maximum to the number of pictures that I would post for the week, maybe one, maybe ten. So, check back often, and join me on my year long photographic journey.

Feel free to join me, comment on the images, or ask questions. You can contact me here...

Day 171

I captured this image inside St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican. This is actually the ceiling of one of the coves inside the church. It was enormous and indescribable. The Vatican was the one place Derek (my husband) really wanted to see while we were in Rome. We are not Catholic, but were intrigued to see the interior of the "largest Christian church in the world". I won't even try to define it with words, just spend some time examining the image (this dome was probably at least 75 feet in diameter). If you would like to see more of my images from St. Peter's Basilica, you can view them in my "Almost 365" album... ~Jayne
